Abstract
This study was conducted to evaluate the reliability of the blood pressure measurements using the newly developed wrist-type electronic sphygmomanometer (SE-5000, Sein Electronicsco, Korea). This electronic sphygmomanometer is a compact apparatus measuring the blood pressure by an oscillometric method. The blood pressure of 50 patients was measured 3 times at 10-minute interval. In standard auscultatory method, two trained personnel independently took blood pressure. Then blood pressure was taken by two personnels at once with a double stethoscope on the right upper arm and by the wrist type electronic sphygmomanometer on left wrist simultaneously. It was revealed that a correlation coefficient between the systolic blood pressures by the two methods was 0.95 and that of between the diastolic blood pressures was 0.89. It was proved through this study that the newly developed wrist- type electronic sphygmomanometer be on excellent apparatus for measuring blood pressure.
